To begin with: Let me announce some new additions to the scaled scenarios web site. First I've added a new "nav" bar on some of the pages. All of the "Old" nav bars will be replaced shortly.
I have also redesigned the main chapters A) Models, Dioramas & Diagrams; and all the subsequent content and photo pages. The same goes for my redesign of the chapter B)Maps, Aerial photos & diagrams.
Soon all the chapters that contain photo pages/ Galleries will be changed.
Next:
I wanted to mention the current situation, concerning the U.S House of Representatives and The Turkish Government. Congress has written a bill condemning as genocide, an event that took place in 1915. This event was the forced displacement and subsequent murder of 1.5 million Armenian Men, Woman and Children by Ottoman troops following the orders of the Ottoman Government. This is historical fact. That this event happened during the period of World War 1 is also a fact, only the actual number of Armenian dead, and the motives of the Ottoman government are in dispute.
Aside from what ever You may feel about the political timing and symbolic nature of this vote, it is a matter with real political repercussions and carries real moral weight, a full 92 years after the event, and shows the relevant power of events, decisions and changes wrought by WW1. The current situation with Turkey, the current war in Iraq and Turkeys on-going problem with Kurdish separatists, are all part of the unfinished business of World War 1. We are still grappling with decisions made by people long dead, in response to events, that are little known or remembered by most people alive today. As William Faulkner said, "History is not was, History is."
